  • Dr Anne Margaret Samuel MSc, FRCP, FFOM

    Dr Anne Margaret Samuel

    Dr Anne Margaret Samuel is a Consultant Physician and Accredited Specialist in Occupational Medicine. She is a Medical Review Officer for workplace drug and alcohol testing and a General Medical Council Performance Assessor.

    She was Chief Medical Officer for EDF Energy until 2013 and formerly Senior Employment Medical Adviser with the Health and Safety Executive. She lectures regularly on ‘Alcohol and Drugs in the Workplace’ on the Diploma in Occupational Medicine course of the Royal Society of Public Health.

    Maggie’s special interest is in the risk management of work-related ill health, particularly mental ill health and early interventions to improve resilience and mental wellbeing at work.

  • Dr David Campbell Brown MSc, FRCP, FFOM

    Dr David Campbell Brown is a Consultant in Occupational Medicine. Most of his career was in the Royal Navy where he specialised in Underwater and Radiation Medine before undertaking senior leadership positions including Professor of Naval Occupational Medicine,  Director of Health and Commanding Officer of the Institute of Naval Medicine. He worked in Washington as a Medical Liaison Officer between the UK and US governments during a period which included September 11,  the anthrax attacks and build up to the War on Terror as well as a later role responsible for  medical deployments on ships and to Afghanistan. He served for three years as an  Honorary Physician to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

    Since leaving the Navy, David has worked for EDF Energy, initially heading up the in house Generation Occupational Health Service but more recently as Chief Medical Officer.  In parallel he is active in training, examining and appraising doctors as well as acting as a Performance Assessor for the General Medical Council. He holds a position with the International Commission in Radiological Protection and still acts as an advisor to the Ministry of Defence.

    Special interests include mental health and wellbeing, drug and alcohol testing and radiation medicine.

    Dr Bill Mitchell is one of the UK's most experienced Clinical Psychologists, an author, educator, and lecturer specialising for many years in the management of work-related psychological difficulties, including anxiety, acute stress and burnout. His approach focuses on rebuilding resilience in people derailed by complex life events. His unique expertise is in teaching people how to sustain high performance whilst staying in tune with what is responsible for maintaining energy, wellbeing, emotional fulfilment, and relationships.

    Bill has worked with senior leadership in a wide range of organisations in professional services, banking and finance, healthcare, utilities and creative industries.  He has lectured on mental health at King’s College London; he regularly contributes to programmes at London Business School and Cambridge Judge Business School.  Bill has worked closely with teams involved in highly complex matters. 

    Bill's first book, ‘Time to Breathe’, consolidates his experience and delivers an easily accessible formula to sustain a resilient life.

  • Karen Roberts MSc

    Karen practices as a psychological coach and sees individuals for one-to-one coaching focusing on preserving energy, balance, and wellbeing. She is interested in supporting women through their lifespans. She is currently exploring the psychological effects on women in the later stages of their careers, including transitioning away from the world of work; in line with her interest in later career transitions, she works with organisations concerned with continuity and succession.

    In addition to her work with individual clients, Karen consults with corporate clients in professional services, financial institutions, tech services, regulatory organisations, healthcare and utilities. Karen has set up specialist psychological support services, working with clients to create fast-track psychological help. Karen works closely with HR and OH departments, advising on workplace adjustments and management techniques to reduce stress effects and improve workplace psychological safety.

    James is a former professional athlete representing both England U21 and, at club level, the former European Champions.
